Throwdown Tournament 30-31 June 2012

NZ Grappler in conjunction with OLIVER MMA are proud to present its first THROWDOWN TOURNAMENT on Saturday and Sunday 30-31 June 2012 at the Te Atatu Community Centre in Auckland. This event will feature a Takedown-only tournament for adults along with Submission Grappling Gi competition for Men, Women, and Kids. There will be weight divisions and Absolute, along with about $4000 in cash and prizes.

The takedown-only competition is designed to encourage more takedown techniques within the fighting sports. We welcome athletes from all sports that uses takedown techniques, such as MMA, Judo, BJJ, and Wrestling. Click here for the official rules for the takedown competition. First prize in the Absolute divisions of the Takedown tournament will be $400, and 2nd prize will be an iPod Touch. The Absolute divisions will be divided into 2 weight classes for the takedown competiton, under 84 kg and over 84 kg.

The Submission Grappling Gi competition will employ the same rules as the previous NZ Grappler No-Gi competitions with addition of holding and submission techniques using the Gi uniform. All submission grappling athletes are invited to compete, but divisions are separated by using BJJ belt ranks as a guideline. Registration Prices are as follows:

$35 Takedown OR Adult Gi division until 11:59 pm on Saturday 23rd June
$55 Takedown AND Adult Gi divisions until 11:59 pm on Saturday 23rd June
$30 Kid Gi division until 11:59 pm on Saturday 23rd June

After 23rd June, late fee is $10 additional. All registrations must be received by Wednesday 27 June 2012.

NZ Grappler are cranking up its presence in the Kiwi tournament scene! Here are the latest confirmed dates for upcoming tournaments:

  • 30-31 JUNE 2012 – No Gi Takedown & Gi tournament for Adults & Kids (Auckland)
  • 25-26 AUGUST 2012 – No-Gi tournament for Adults & Kids (Palmerston North)
  • 6-7 OCTOBER 2012 – No-Gi Nationals for Adults & Kids (Auckland)

1st Grapplers Challenge Kids Results

The 1st GRAPPLERS CHALLENGE was a great success for getting kids the competition experience they need. Last chance to register for 2011 NO GI Nationals

The last chance to register for New Zealand’s largest NO GI grappling competition is upon us. Don’t miss the opportunity to compete with other grapplers in the country at this historic event. Grapplers from all disciplines such as BJJ, wrestling, judo, and MMA are welcomed to try their hand against each other.

For adults, the break down of divisions is as follows:

SKILL LEVELS:
Beginner (under 1 yr training)
Intermediate (1-3 yrs training)
Advanced (over 3 yrs training)

WEIGHT CLASSES:
Men – 63, 67, 73 77 83 87, 93, 105, and over 105 kg
Women – 65, 85, over 85kg

Kids divisions will be determined on day of event.

Adults compete on Saturday 15 October starting at 10am (weigh ins start at 9am). Kids compete on Sunday 16 October starting at 9am (weigh ins start at 8am).

The last day to register on Wednesday 12th October, so don’t procrastinate any longer and get in your registration NOW!

National No Gi Tournament 15-16 Oct 2011

NZ Grappler are proud to present its first ever National No Gi Tournament on the 15-16 October 2011 at the Te Atatu Peninsula Community Centre in Auckland. The Adult tournament will be held on Saturday 15th October from 10 am to 4pm. The Kids tournament will be on Sunday 16th October from 9 am to 1 pm. BJJ and other Grappling academies across New Zealand are expected to compete at this event. This is a great opportunity for the entire family to compete at the same event, which cuts down on travel costs.
